In Britain today there are around 300 game farms, mostly rearing pheasants and partridges. Some retain a breeding flock to produce their own eggs. Others buy eggs or day-old chicks and rear them on. The game farming year starts in February when laying birds are penned for mating and egg production.

How are pheasant chicks reared?
Pheasant chicks are mostly reared under electric hen brooders, which though labour intensive, produce very well ‘hard’feathered poults. All poults have three weeks off heat in grass runs prior to release and are sold at seven/eight week of age. We are one of the very few game farms with a purpose built post mortem room (see gallery).
