Who is allowed to trade after-hours?
The day when stock investors will be able to trade 24 hours a day, seven days a week may not be too far away. Investors can only use limit orders, not market orders, to buy or sell shares in the after-hours market. The ECN then matches these orders based on the prices set in the limit orders.

Weekend trading gives you access to indices, cryptocurrency and forex markets on a Saturday and Sunday. So, if news breaks and you see an opportunity to trade, you won’t have to wait until markets open on Monday to trade. Weekend prices for indices and forex are quoted separately to their weekday counterparts.

The forex market is open 24 hours a day, five days a week. However, each day is broken up into several sessions, with each session being open for a set number of hours depending on the geographic location. With IG, our weekday forex market is open from 9pm on a Sunday until 10pm on a Friday.
