How to Set the Timer for Toro Sprinkler Systems
- Turn the program dial to the “Auto/On” setting.
- Slide the program switch to the zone you wish to program.
- Turn the Toro Sprinkler timer dial to the “Set Time/Day” position.
- Turn the dial to the “Set Watering Days” position.
How do you set the watering days on a Toro?
To select the day (flashing), press the +/ON button. To remove the day, press the –/OFF button. Repeat this step until only the desired watering days are shown.
Why does my Toro sprinkler system run twice?
A common reason for a controller to repeat a cycle is too many programmed start times. Only one start time per active program is required, a second start time will cycle the program an additional time.
Why does my sprinkler timer not work?
If your sprinklers aren’t working but the timer is on, the problem could be a fuse. Open the sprinkler timer box to check the fuses; if any are broken, replace them. The problem could also be the sprinkler system’s antenna, which is often powered by a 9-volt battery. Replace the battery and see if that helps.

How do you troubleshoot an irrigation timer?
The best thing to do is head out and set up a timer to turn on within a few minutes to make sure your timer is in fact working properly. If your sprinklers turn on with this temporary timing program, then you can reset the timer to your normal schedule and everything should work again.
