How do you paste a seal a still?
- 3/4 cup rye flour.
- 1/3 cup water.
- Mix the rye flour and water together with hands.
- Roll the flour paste into a snake.
- Once the boiler reaches 115 degrees apply the flour paste to the still.
- As the still heats up the rye flour paste will cook onto the still creating a seal at the joint.
Why is my moonshine blue?
Basically, this is caused by the alcohol vapor corroding the copper metal. As the copper is literally eaten away, fragments transfer into the moonshine batch, which ultimately gives it a bluish tint. It’s important to note that moonshine made with fruit is more likely to turn out blue.
