Gran Partita
Despite his hatred of Mozart, the man, he cannot help but be drawn to Mozart’s music. One of my favorite scenes of the movie was when Salieri, as a mentally ill old man, describes hearing Mozart’s Gran Partita for the first time (If you’re not familiar with the piece, listen to the movement in question here).

After the tremendous success of “The Marriage of Figaro”, the people of Prague persuaded “their” revered Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to create another great opera. Mozart decided to process the material of the seducer of women, Don Juan.

He wanted to be a musician and go into music but his father did not accept his ways. He prayed to God and after this, his father choked and died. Thus, he was able to go into music.

Despite a few drinks in his system, or perhaps because of them, Mozart managed to compose a masterful overture the night before “Don Giovanni’s” premiere. On the night of the premiere, copyists had just finished making copies of this hastily written overture before the performance.
